Jalan-jalan Numpak Sepur - Taking a Train Ride

A new MRT line has just been opened two days ago and we were out there to check it out earlier today. The phase 1 of Downtown line is now open for public. It comprises of 6 stations: Chinatown, Telok Ayer, Downtown, Bayfront, Promenade and Bugis. Phase 2 and 3 will be open in 2016 and 2017 with stations along these areas.
Ooookay...so where will we alight later?

Here comes the train!

There is an exhibit about facts and history of Downtown line and also LTA's transportation plan in the future at Bayfront Station, right below the Marina Bay Financial Centre. This MRT station is

Look! The gates are of different design! They are fitted with soft padding so that when some unfortunate souls get the gate slammed shut and hit them...well at least they will not feel painful...but the 'malu' part will still be there though :P

Exhibit at the Bayfront Station

Some interesting puzzles and trivia for you to do while enjoying the ride on the new MRT route.

Downtown Line Phase 1 in blue colour, against existing MRT lines.

So you see, there were many other people taking this ride for the same purpose as us :P
There are three cars on each train, and each cars have its own interior colour theme.
Oh btw, this is for you kiddo: i found interesting info about the kawasaki train cars here.

Stop by at Telok Ayer MRT Station and goes up to the street level. There are quite a number of interesting historical places around this area. This was Fu Tak Chi Temple, built in 1824 by Hakka and Cantonese immigrants. It is now served as a mini-museum displaying artefact depicting the lives of early Chinese immigrants in Singapore. The temple was also the first Chinese temple in Singapore. Click here to get the location.

The model is actually pretty well-done here.

Okay...so I received these updates about the disruption in service from the SBS Transit today. Well...there are definitely many people who are not happy about the incident and start to complain about it, but I will just keep my cool and give the SBS people more time to understand their new toy better! :) Those who complain should live in my country then... to experience the local transportation system, and then they will surely appreciate the good quality of transportation system that they have here.
